FOG FAQ

How often should grease traps be pumped?

Most programs require pumping when a grease trap reaches 25% capacity. SmartComply tracks pump-out history and can auto-schedule based on the FSE's configured frequency (typically every 30–90 days).

Can haulers submit manifests electronically?

Yes. Haulers with portal access can log in, select the FSE, and submit a manifest with volume, waste type, and disposal destination. Manifests appear with a "Portal" badge.

What happens if an FSE fails inspection?

A failed inspection creates a follow-up task with required corrective actions and a re-inspection date. The FSE receives a notice with the deficiencies found.

How do I register a new food service establishment?

Go to FOG → FSEs → + Add FSE. Enter the business name, address, contact info, and grease control equipment details. You can also import FSEs in bulk via CSV.

Can I track multiple grease traps per FSE?

Yes. Each FSE can have multiple interceptors or traps, each with its own size, location, and pump-out schedule.

How do I set up automated pump-out reminders?

Configure the pump-out frequency on each FSE's equipment record. SmartComply sends reminders to the FSE and/or assigned hauler when a pump-out is due.
